(And it if had a theme song maybe it would be this.) Mistwalker Nemaa laid his staff down at the entrance to the Water Caverns. Inside he would not need it, he knew... The nearness of the Fathom Stone would breathe life into him, take the aches from his bones and muscle, peel away the years the weighed upon him. Bathed in the stone's waters, he would feel young again. The half-elemental smiled as he walked down the corridor that led to the caves. The stone was a blessing. But today it was he who would bless it. As caretaker of the stone and it's caverns, it was his duty to see the stone was protected and cherished. Once every five days he would make his pilgrimage to the sacred caverns and offer his songs and spells to the stone, ensuring it's waters continued to run pure. He passed through the man-made corridors and into the Heart Pool. The smell and sound of water was strong here, he felt it calling to his elemental's heart. He made his way to the side of the waters and cast aside his robe. Reverently he dipped one foot and then the other into the cool, streaming waters. Beginning his ritual he lowered himself further into the pool, the water enveloping him. As the waters closed over his head he heard the song of the Fathom Stone, and he knew something was terribly wrong. But by then, of course, it was already far too late. -Some Time Later-Springport is buried under rain. It cascades down from the sky in solid grey-green sheets, drumming on the rooftops and sloshing through the slanted streets, thundering through the open gutters that carry hundreds if not thousands of gallons of water into the sea every hour. "Rain, rain an' more rain. ...as if we don't got enough water as it is. Hecch!" The old sailor punctuates his statement with a mix between a laugh, a cough and a spit, surveying the assembled group with a squint-eyed glare. "We got the Sea on one side, the Springs on th' other, and now a sky fulla rain." He explains, clarifying his earlier statement perhaps unessecarily. A moment passes as he looks around the mostly abandoned dock, searching for any stragglers. Once he's satisfied that no-one else is coming he turns back to the group. "Guess that's all of you... Hecch! ...My name's Hardee, though I wouldn't bother remembering it if I were you.... I've been bid to make sure you make it to the manor without getting lost, and that's what I'm going to do... I want no truck with adventurers'n mercs 'n their ilk. I'm an honest sailor an' have been all my life. Your kind.. Well if you don't find trouble, then trouble finds you, and I want none of it... Hecch!" He grumbles and starts down the dockside, picking his way under warehouse eaves and overhead cranes to thwart the worst of the rain. The dockfront is a jumbled forest of cargo cranes, ships, masts and rigging, and operations seem to be continuing despite the downpour. "Well we got us a long, wet walk, so let me at least explain a bit about the city... This here is Springport. So named because it's a port-" he stomps the dock under his feet- "'an because from yonder hill over there pours streams of sweet water, right outta th' rock, which is why we put a port here 'n the first place. Supposedly it all comes outta some magical stone stuck in th' hill but I've never seen it and I don't much care to, my business is the ocean. Good clean water's hard ta come by. Ships come here to trade 'n fill their water stocks. Springport ain't much older than my first son, -that's twenty ta you- and it's already the busiest port fer a a thousand miles around! Hecch!" "Now where yer headed is the Manor... Mayor Beoule put out a call fer folks like you, and he wanted whoever showed up brought to him, so that's where we're going..." The manor turns out to be more of a small castle constructed of solid grey stone, perched on a high hillock near the center of town, with a single soaring tower in the center. Hardee ushers everyone grumpily inside and into a spartan but blessedly dry and warm waiting room. The room is furnished with a number of chairs and benches, and two stone fireplaces supply cozy warmth and illumination. "Arrite, wait here.. I'll tell the Mayor you're arrived..." Hardee stumps out of the room, leaving the rest of the group alone. Among those who remain ((In addition to the players' characters)) are a young man and woman, who aside from their similarly brown hair, could not be more diametrically opposed. The woman is dressed in a full suit of armor, sans helmet, and equipped with a cross between a hammer and a cudgel, hung from a thick leather strap. She has a lean, almost boyish face surrounded by hastily-combed locks of brown hair, coming down barely to her neck. She gives the assembled group a curt but not hostile once-over with her sharp-looking eyes then after a moment crosses her arms and leans back against the wall. Her eyes half-close as she appears to almost doze, though whether she is meditating or merely waiting is hard to guess. The man is clothed in the garb of a privateer, leather and oiled canvas. A long, solid-looking sword hangs sheathed at his side and he spins the barrels of a multi-shot rifle as he looks animatedly around the room. "Corwin Redblade," he says, aprops of nothing, "Not to be confused with the pirate Corvine. We have similar names and similar trades but really, we're two different people." He smiles and winks, spinning his barrels with a series of clicks. "I did meet him once, though. Nice fellow." Corwin flops down into the nearest chair. "So I'm guessing we're all here because of the summons? The clink of gold or the call of glory? I'm in it for the clink, myself. Have almost enough to afford my own ship... Of course thats if I don't spend it all on ale and girls before I make it down to the shipyards. That's been a problem in the past." The woman leaning against the wall shifts somewhat and possibly sighs. Corwin cocks his head in her direction. "I say something? Anyway... Just wanted to let you all know that you can count on me.. I'm good with this gun and good with a blade, so up front or in the back, I'm your man." He winks. "Also I'm no slouch around locks. I'd say there isn't a box around that I can't get into. Or haven't already. And believe me I've seen my share of sticky traps as well." He winks again. This time the woman against the wall turns and fixes him with a disapproving glare. Corwin smiles back prettily, shaking his damp brown locks away from his handsome, face. "Well I can tell you like me already. What's your name?" "Violet Belstruhl," she answers coldly. "Royal Knight initiate, Order of the Sword. I answer you only because I'm required to. You are a vile man." Corwin winces. " Uff, Royal Knight, that figures. And I've been called worse." "I'm sure you have." Violet turns to look back at the wall, her eyelids falling again to half-mast. Corwin sighs. "...Well that's off to a good start.. So, how about the rest of you? Names? He had kept to the back of the group as they had made their way through the rain, making no special attempt to call attention to himself. Indeed there were more spectacular sites then a soaked dandy in Springport, and for the all the noise he made he might have well been one of the locals clinging to the group for a bit of gossip. He quickly discards anonymity as Corwin calls for their names, tossing it off as one would a cloak or other burdening article of clothing.
The young man cuts a fine lean figure in his violet and navy frock coat trimmed in lace, a supple pair of leather boots adorns his feet, and across his waist slashes a crimson sash buckled with the sigil of the Northerly wayfarers, a dashing fox twined about a florid "N". Sweeping off the leather tricorn from his grey haired head he gives a grand bow, before rising and clicking his heels together.
"Well met master Corwin, I remember yer like named less-than-likely Corvine. Learned the hard way naer ever let him deal the cards , however to always let him pick the pub, he always knew where the fun would be. Iffin yer even half the trouble he could stir well this'll prove to be quite the venture indeed."
He shakes Corwin's hand like it might run off without the proper grip, with a wide grin he keeps going without waiting for permission to continue.
"Ah, and miss Violet, named fer the flower no doubt and raised fer the valor and violence. An Initiate are we? Yet to take the vigil? Best oh luck lassie, best oh luck indeed. Twill be a comfort to have such a ....solid...individual with us on this wee venture"
He gives her another sweeping bow as shaking her hand would no doubt require her to release her weapon, the same motion of the bow brings him round to face the others as he doffs his hat which had found it's way back to his head.
"But where are my manners? I was asked fer a name and I provided two already given. I am Isral Northerly, eldest of the Shirewin Northerlys, and retainer to their immediate interests. As it were the Mayor has presented us recently with a bit of gab that pertains to those very interests, I'm here to well...access the cut of his jib."
Coming full circle, he falls back into a chair and proceeds to become comfortable.

Tsume slouches in a comfortable-looking chair, making small fireballs in the palm of his hand and closing his fist on them to put them out. Over and over, the way others might tap their foot out of boredom or nervousness. His dark tangle of hair falls across his face as he stares at the balls of flame appear and disappear. Only once did the flame flare out and catch the arm of the chair, singing a few inches of fabric before he stamped it out with his hand.
He looks at the others with a neutral expression and tosses the stray strands of dripping hair out of his eyes with a flick of his neck.
"Tsume. I'm...uh...not from around here."
He studies the others briefly and goes back to making small balls of flame.

Corwin grins broadly at Isral's introduction, absently patting himself afterwards to make sure all his own possessions were still in attendance. "Yeah, that sounds like the Corvine I know, though I never had the misfortune to come across him at cards. I'll do my best to manage at least half the trouble, though."
Violet gives Isral another pass-over with her eyes and seems to think for a moment before nodding. "Thank you. I'm here to help, however I may."
Corwin rounds on Tsume as he introduces himself, and watches the flames with fascination for a long moment before sighing. "You know I wish I could do that.. Or anything, you know… Sparkly, really." He wiggles his fingers. "I tried, actually, had a tutor and everything.. But as it turns out I have an affinity for magic about on par with your average rock." He sighs. "So I'll have to just make do with my good looks and natural grace and talent, huh?. It isn't so bad being me I guess, but all the same you know sometimes you just want to throw fire, you know?"

Tsume smiles mildly and nods but says nothing, internally rolling his eyes. He's been "throwing fire" for so long he's been exiled from every place he's ever lived for longer than a few months and is acutely aware of its destructive properties. For him, the fire was never a choice, it chose him, and he can't help but bow to its all-encompassing force. Through years of study, he's managed to be able to wield the forces of fire somewhat, but no one can be said to truly control fire. It is, by its very nature, uncontrollable. Its subjects often similarly volatile.

Smirking at Corwin's proclamation Isral couldn't help but laugh.
"If only wishing made it so..."
He fishes in one of the myriad numbers of pockets on his coat, finally coming out with what appears at first to be a silver pocket watch bearing the same sigil on his belt. A closer inspection however reveals it's got too many winding pins to be a time keeping device, and when he clicks open the device with a pleasant chime it's shown to have 4 hands and two faces, neither of which comply with the numerical time keeping standard. He gives a slight snort as if he expected to see whatever the strange device revealed to him and then snapped it shut.
"Take it from me though, bein able to do a few cantrips tisn't all it's cracked up to be. Makes ye a target to those that recognize the gift, and not to mention a target fer every lazy farmer who thinks every mage can make the grass grow and the sun shine."
He raises the back of his hand to his head in a feigned look of distress.
"Lets not forget my personal favorite 'Tell me my future oh mystic sage!' pah, as if a Northerly didn't have better things to do than run around predicting the emergence of every turnip before winter!"

Corwin zeroes in on Isral's strange device with fascination and seems be on the verge of making a comment when the thump of heavy footsteps announces Hardee's return. "Allright, the Mayor's expecting you. Follow me up. Hecch!" Hardee leads the group (grousing softly the entire way) down a series of increasingly better-appointed halls, until the group finally finds itself in a vast room with high paneled windows stretching from floor to ceiling, showing a grey panorama of the rainy city below. The walls are lined with heavily loaded bookshelves and at the opposite side of the room sits a solid-looking wooden desk. An aged but well-groomed man in a black suit is perched behind it, presumably the Mayor. Standing a few feet behind and to the side is a thin robed figure, easily seven feet tall. Though hooded, two bright blue eyes shine from beneath the cloak. The man behind the desk rises, slipping his spectacles from his nose. "Welcome, all. Sorry to have kept you waiting. I am Mayor Beoule." The mayor beckons everyone closer with his hand, then sinks back down wearily behind his desk. "I hope you'll forgive me but I mean to get straight to business. These are bad times for Springport. It may not be obvious from where you stand but part of my job here is keeping the illusion of peace and order even when there is none. Perhaps especially when there is none." He smirks, tipping his glasses back on to his nose. "Now, as to why you're here. In a few words, something has gone wrong with our water supply. If you're familiar with Springport's history you're aware of the presence of the Fathom Stone beneath the mountain. Some time ago the Stone began to give off tainted water. Foul smelling, foul tasting. Not undrinkable as yet, but it will soon get that way, I fear. Naturally we attempted to investigate the problem, but the entrance to the caverns has been barred and sealed. What's more, the interior seems to be filled with creatures… Ordinarily we would have the manpower to deal with this ourselves, but currently most of our militia is… Elsewhere. Your task in all this would be to enter the Water Caverns and ideally find a way to reverse whatever damage has been done to it. Failing that, at least render the caverns safe for our scholars so they may work on a way to remedy the situation themselves." Mayor Beoule looks over his shoulder at the robed figure. "I'd like for my guest here to finish explaining the details, as she is able." The figure nods and steps forward, pulling down her hood to reveal a hairless head with light blue skin. In the flickering of the overhead chandeliers the rounded features of her face seem to shine as though damp. She speaks in a soft, melodious voice, higher than one might expect for one so tall. "I am called Mistwalker Oraa. It is my duty and the duty of those of my kind here to protect and serve the needs of the Fathom Stone. Something unexpected and terrible has transpired in the caverns, and they are now closed to we of the Cadre… Mistwalker Nemaa was the last servitor to enter, and it seems to have been he that blockaded the entrance. None have heard of felt him since… I am the strongest remaining of the Cadre, and I can undo the seal that binds the place. I sense however that danger lurks on the other side, and I am unwilling to venture alone. The other Mistwalkers are not warriors, and the city's resources are spent, so I pled with the Mayor to find me aid. It pleases me to find it has arrived so soon." She casts her luminous eyes around the group. "If, that is, you accept. I pray you will, for I see no other way. The Cadre has little of value to give, but Mayor Beoule has promised ample reward, since the city also benefits from the Stone." The Mayor nods. "As she says. You would be doing us all a great service." Violet steps forward abruptly. "I accept the task I ask no reward for my service, I ask only that you remember the Citadel in such times as your coffers are full." Beoule smiles. "Of course, and thank you. The reputation of the Royal Knights is well known among the just. I will see to it that we send the Citadel what aid we can, as out thanks for all the good works of the knights." "I'll take the gold, thanks!" Corwin steps forward. "…There will be gold, right? I'm just saying. People have tried to pay me in livestock before and, well, it just wasn't pretty, that's the easiest way of putting it." The Mayor gives the adventurer an odd look, then shakes his head. "There will be a tangible reward for all who seek it, rest assured. Gold if you like." "Wenches are also an acceptable substitute." Corwin looks around as though hoping to find one in a corner. "Just so you know." Mayor Beoule looks pointedly elsewhere and clears his throat politely. "There will be a tangible reward for all who seek it. If it please you though, I'd like to steer the conversation back to the topic at hand. If you have more questions for the Mistwalker or myself then feel free to ask them, otherwise I must insist you go to the caverns immediately. This work cannot wait longer." Mistwalker Oraa nods. "I will be glad to share all I know, you need only ask." Mistwalker Oraa

Isral insinuates himself to the fore of the group, peering up at the tall Mistwalker's features and examining them shrewdly. Painting a pleasant smile on his features he removes his hat and holds it to his chest, reaching into one of his pockets he comes out with a rather lengthy scroll of parchment.
"Before my questions there's the matter of my fee...or rather the matter oh my security. I'll not ask fer anything so crass as gold, simply yer signature here, there's a lot of fine print on there so I'll sum it up fer ye. This piece oh paper states that in return fer any services I render to ye on behalf oh the Northerlys, that ye, hence forth known as the Client, allow myself, henceforth known as the Proxy to claim any artifact pertinent to the Wayfarer's Age and independent of the city's structure in the name of the Northerlys and see to it's immediate packaging and shipping to our estate. In the event of an artifact that does pertain to the aforementioned Wayfarers and is part of the cities structure, ye shall grant the Northerly's exclusive rights to it's study and waive yer rights to any access to our findings. This contract is legally binding, activated upon signature, and it's terms are set only to the ruins to which the Proxy shall be servicing on behalf of the Client. So naer worry, I won't be uprooting yer entire city."
With a rakish wink he lays the parchment on the Mayor's table and produces a quill with a flourish of his hand.
"A lot to swallow I know, so take yer time readin iffin ye must. While ye do that, I do have a question fer our Mistwalker compatriot." He turned to address Oraa "What sort of needs did this stone have to begin with? They must have been quite demanding to require an entire cadre of magickers to keep up with them."

Tsume pauses in playing with his fireballs when their host and his companion arrive. He shifts uncomfortably under the gaze of the blue eyes, unsure where his unease comes from until she reveals herself. A mistwalker, he muses. That's interesting. He'd heard of the -walkers before in his training, odd tales of flamewalkers that live in the deep desert and make their homes in underground caverns that are so deep, it's said, that they are warmed by the very molten core of Obouron. Tsume's skin tingles as he perceives a palpable change in the humidity in the room that only one as used to the dry and dusty heat of the Wastes as he would detect. His hands go suddenly clammy just thinking about a trek to a magickal stone that produces water, the air thick with moisture.
It is what it is, he thinks. There are worse places, I'm sure.
"I'll go," he chimes in. "I expect to be paid." He considers the last time he took on a quest and was promised payment that never delivered. The village was a blackened heap as he walked away, his coat still smoking.

Mayor Beoule looks over Isral's proffered paperwork with a half-grin, shoving his glasses back up onto his nose.
"From one professional to another, eh?" His eyes scan the text, "At least we won't be spitting on our palms." After a moment's consideration and the rereading of a line or two, he sweeps up the pen in a practiced motion and applies his signature to the paper. "All seems fair, and there you are. I'll say though that you're unlikely to find any Wayfarer artifacts in the Caverns, but I can well appreciate being prepared for any contingency."
Oraa turns to Isral in response to his question. "The needs of the stone are simple, and the Cadre is possibly smaller than you assume. At most we have a dozen, but usually the number is more akin to three or four. Mistwalkers are often drawn to call of the stone, despite it's proximity to the bitter waters of the ocean. Some make their homes here but seldom for very long. It is the nature of water to always be moving. I have been here a year and will stay for perhaps another. Then it will be time to go. But someone is always there for the stone.. And before each leaves they teach the new ones who arrive to care for it… But I speak too much, I will answer your question.. The needs of the stone are simple, as I said. In fact it's needs are less it's and more our own. A man might wish to polish a diamond or another precious belonging. It is much the same with us and the Fathom stone. We show it care as it is precious to us. We bless it with protections and keep it clean and clear of moss and algae. We listen to it's song… Like many things of deep magic it has a simple mind… And like all things that know themselves, it can grow lonely. We sing or speak to it, in simple ways it understands, to let it know it is not alone, and that it is cherished."
The Mistwalker's eyes dim momentarily. "I sense the question behind your question is that is it anything the Cadre could have done to have caused this calamity. I cannot see that it could have. We would not harm the stone, any more than we would harm ourselves. Nemaa was the eldest and most skilled of us, I can't imagine him causing this through negligence. The Stone itself lacks awareness of anything but itself and it's immediate surroundings.. It would not cause this out of spite. It would not even understand the concept. The cause is a mystery. A deep and troubling one."
The Mayor looks up as Tsume speaks and nods at his statement. "Excellent. And you will be rewarded, never fear. Springport is a prosperous city and trades on it's reputation. I believe we have an accord, then… Now, there is little I can offer to aid you, much of the city's resources went out with the militia.. But I've managed to ferret these out of out storehouses… May they serve you well."

The Mistwalker steps forward. "Unless you absolutely need to make further preparations, we should make our way to the Water Caverns immediately… This problem has waited long enough and I fear what may have become of Mistwalker Nemaa."

Khrys regretted wearing robes a few years back when they, along with her hard-sole heels, had roused the watchman's dog and brought it's attention upon her attempts to slip out of a chemist's with several bags of explosive powders. An hour after leaving behind the reticent noise (and smell) of an unhappy hairless hound and it's now-crispy-bald owner she vowed to always wear pantaloons and swear off heels. It was this somewhat unfeminine red-leather attire that kept her entrance from disturbing those in attendance now, as the deal was struck and the potions distributed.
Tsume was the second to win her attention, her eyes glinting as she prospected her chances of picking up a trick or two from his spell casting. But the first...the first was the Mistwalker.
The sixteen year old had only begun a month ago on her nomadic path chasing the heady, hedonisitic pleasure of power. Mistwalker Oraa's appearance was interesting but what captured Khrys' imagination was the power accessible to the guardians of the Stone. There would be much to learn. And much to burn.
Her eyes passed without judgement or comment over the remaining three adventurers. Corwin and Isral virtually reeked of charm, like perfumed skunks. While charms were often a trait of powerful people, indicators of power, their base desire for gold payment immediately dismissed them from her focus. They might come to power in their life ahead but it was not a place they occupied now. These were not coattails she was interested in riding. Nor was the suited woman: the metal that ran over her body and up her spine was admirable but it left Khrys disinclined. Let the rattling paladin stand at the front line of battle; that was her use to the mage.
As the group accepted their vials individually, Khrys made a quiet attempt to nod politely to each one and introduce her name before moving back to the shelved walls. While waiting for the troupe to lead the way, her right hand slid the valuable liquid into a hip pouch while the left went up past a voluminous white v-neck blouse and settled into her hair, slowly spinning a thick curl that was tickling her left ear.

Tsume takes the vial and stows it in a pocket in his jacket. He didn't particularly like giving the impression that his only desire was monetary wealth, but it was gold that lubricated his travels from township to township, and you don't find fantastic leather coats like his for free.
He nods a little curiously at the newcomer and stands at the mistwalker's invitation to leave immediately.

As Isral graciously accepts Khrys's introduction the vial vanishes on Isral's person, doubtless lost in one of the many pockets on his coat. Collecting the scroll back from the Mayor he examines the signature and nods, rolling it back up and stowing it away just as quickly as the vial. Doffing his hat back on his head he tips it in Oraa's direction and nods.
"Everything is in order on this end, my services are yers. Lead the way lass.

The trip to the water cavern is long but passes quickly as the group scurries to keep up with Mistwalker Oraa's long, pensive strides through the rain. Along the way they acquire a small group of followers, mostly curious city folk who trail behind whispering, but as it becomes evident they are headed for the cave both the number of people and the volume of their chatter increases. The cavern entrance lies near the edge of the city, against the steep incline of the hill, covered over by a arching stone vault and barred by a heavy gate. Large, fast-running streams of water run away from the mountainside in a number of places through stone channels that lead away into the city. A small living area, apparently the accommodations of the Mistwalker cadre, lies next to the entrance. It is little more than a collection of tents and small sheds in an open yard surrounded by a wall. They seem to be closed up and if there are any occupants they are inside, unseen. The wake of people following the group disperses at the wall that surrounds the encampment, but remain around the perimeter, murmuring. "They are not forbidden to enter," Oraa says. "They are merely cautious. The situation in the caverns is widely known…" She walks across the yard and steps close to the arched vault that covers the tunnel into the rock. Almost but not quite unnoticeable is a shimmering translucent field that covers the gate. She extends her hand towards it and the magic bends and ripples, stretching and deforming till it finally tears away like paper, separating and dissolving into the sky. Chill, damp air flows from the vault, accompanied by the deep echo of running water and moan of wind. "It is some distance through the tunnel, then we enter the cave itself." Oraa says. She peers with her luminous eyes into the vault. "I sense nothing, the danger must lie further in." The group progresses warily down the tunnel, Oraa, speaking quietly. "We are close to the Heart Pool, the lowest of the large caverns.. It should be-" She halts abruptly. "Wait… I can sense… Water golems… Many of them… They are part of the Cavern's defenses, but we cannot assume they will not harm us. In fact I think we can assume they will. ((Unless otherwise specified, the length of time for effects is 1 round, meaning that it will last through the enemy's turn then expire as your turn comes around again. So basically if you want to have Mirror Image (or any other buff without a specified duration) up all the time you have to cast it every round.))

I may have to just go back to more traditional placers for ease of use… I'll probably convert everything for next round. I drew and colored everything by hand in the hope that it would flesh out the environment a bit more than your usual overhead map. It's a bit.. (Well, a lot) of extra work but I was hoping it would make things more interesting, and I wanted to get some practice drawing background. (albeit isometric ones) But I want your opinion.. is it confusing to use at all, and/or should I just go back to a full overhead view to make things simpler to understand? Please let me know today as I'm about to start work coloring the 2nd floor of the caverns today and I don't want to waste my time if y'all don't like it. ))

Smirking as his blade makes a decent crack in the stone, Isral doesn't have much time to celebrate as a golem advances and takes a few swipes at him. Ducking as weaving, he narrowly avoids the last swipe.
"I'll hold the right bridge!" comes the cry from Violet.
"Just a little more time here!"
He extends out his hand, and suddenly he's shaking the hand of his own visage. He claps the image on the shoulder and points to the advancing golems.
"Be a dear and deal with the guests?"
Giving him a wry look his double sighs "Yer a real ponce ye know that?"
Isral snickers and takes another swing at the stone.

((Okay so for your convenience here is the last turn again with the newly beflattened icons. See if y'all like that any better, this would be the main alternative to the 'pop up' version. The portraits got a little smaller but I think you can still tell who everyone is... Also: Bren the order of combat is Move and THEN Actions, for purposes of balance. Yeah it's annoying to do it thusly but it has to be that way to avoid some exploits and general lameness. Sorry, that would have been a good move otherwise though.

(( re: maps -- the only problem I had was with the marker placement. It looked like the doorway was 2 squares wide, hence my movement. otherwise it's not confusing to me at all. ))

Borrowing the protective mass that was Violet, Khrys slipped through the entrance to the large chamber. The humidity made her shiver, an uncomfortable sensation, and she responded to it by lifting her clasped hands in the same motion as before. The comforting warmth flowed through and out of her body as she let loose a second shot of flame.

Two of the three golems set to fall upon Isral are boiled away by a fireball, but the third dives in it' it's claws, tearing into the Wayfarer with it's claws, only to see it's supposed victim waver and dissolve, fracturing like a reflection in a broken mirror. "Don't worry, I've got your back!" Corwin cries out jovially, sighting down his file and letting fly with two shots in quick succession. "Watch this! One! TWO!" A golem at the far end of the hall shatters and dissipates, it's core sphere shot out, but the other target continues it's assault unhindered. "What? Ah man.. Well I guess just one, then." Violet's fingers, surprisingly deft inside their armored shells, again form a glowing sigil on the ground that explodes at the motion of her clenched fist, annihilating two more golems as they cross the bridge. ((Wheee! Hehe.. But just so you guys don't get a wrong impression as to how most of these fights are going to go, It should be noted that these golems are about as durable as porcelain dolls. Most mobs (like the ones I'm working on now) will have about 5-6 times as much health or more… But for this encounter I thought that a lot of explosions and 1-shots would be fun. But I guess now you see why I'm not awarding experience for these guys. ))

Isral shields his eyes as the fireball vaporizes the two Golem's on his tail.
"A wee bit careful on the aim aye? I like these clothes!"
Turning on a heel he sights the next summoning stone and goes into a full dash for it, leaping in the air before vanishing and reappearing above the next stone, coming down with his dagger on it.
