Designed by Concordia Imperial Shipworks during one of the many long conflicts between Imperial Concord and Victoriana, the Condor was designed as an armored transport craft for troops and war materiel. It's chief assets were it's simple construction and ease of manufacture, and tens of thousands were comissioned over the span of the conflict.
The condor is extremely well armored for a transport, an attribute that is often critisized, as it contributes to the Condor's low travel speed and reduced lifting capacity. At the same time however this heavy armor is what made it an excellent blockade runner. Few interceptors had the armament necessary to bring one down before being intercepted themselves by the transport's escorts, and as a result few fell prey to the popular hit and run tactics of Victorianan navy's light attack ships. A lone Condor however was in considerably dire straits if it fell under attack, as it's low speed meant escape was usually impossible. It's only chance then was to simply outlast it's attacker. Some did. Many did not.
While tough on the outside, the interior structure of the Condor is comparatively weak. As cost-saving attempts necessitated the use of lower-quality building materials and methods.
The Condor's armament consists of one 8-Pounder turreted cannon in a rearward mount. While the ship's weaponry isn't particularly strong, it can still serve to dissuade attackers.
During wartime, the Condor had two main variants, One for cargo hauling and one for carrying troops. At the end of the conflict Concordia sold many of their remaining ships to other countries and private buyers to help pay their war costs. As a result, many thousands of the aging model are in civillian service today as cargo haulers, traders or repair vessels, and quite a few still remain in military service.
