POINT DEFENSE LASER (Energy Cannon, anti-remote)
A cluster of fast-cycling red-spectrum lasers, useless against ships but more than capable of zapping your average fighter, torpedo or missile out of existence in an esthetically pleasing puff of rapidly expanding particles. Rapid fire and good range improves your chances of hitting. Does no damage to ships, but can be used to shoot down missiles, torpedoes, fighters, mines and other remote units. The power draw of point-defense lasers is so (comparatively) minor that each carries a microreactor that produces enough energy to power the weapon.

• Must be placed on the outside of the ship and have an unobstructed output. Facing determines are of fire.
-Effects-
• Fires 5 shots as a single attack, each has a chance to hit the target.
• Some peace of mind when confronted by missiles or fighters.
• Does no damage to ships.
