It is a brick what battles The Battle BrickA solid design with plenty of acceleration firepower and shielding the Battle Brick's one downside is handling more its namesake than thinner craft. however it more than makes up for it with the ability to withstand immense firepower on the broadside shielding before, in the hands of a skill pilot, twisting around to unleash the massive forward batteries. Name: [ Battle Brick ] #Batteries: [ 3 ]--x4--> Energy: [ 12 ] #Reactors: [ 4 ]-------> Regen: [ 4 ] #Engines: [ 8 ]-----------------x50------------------>Thrust: [ 400 ] #Comp.: [ 30 ] + Width Penalty:[ 10 ]---------->Drag: [ 40 ] [Thrust] / [Drag]--------> Movement: [ 10 ]

BattleBrick MK2: Plasma BrickMy first battle brick was kind of a shot in the dark, designed around the complete unknowns that was the SSD system. Immediately I realized it was not that well designed so this is a shot at addressing its main issues. 1. OH GOD I USE UP SO MUCH POWER FIRING MY GUNS. Frankly it can either shield or shoot not really both for an extended period. 2. Fighters and missiles oh my: It has no form of point defense. So this model gives up all long range firepower for sheer annhilating force at close range with the quad plasma cannon battery. fitting in the heatsinks at only a nominal loss of gunspace meant taking out 2 ion cannons, the other two were replaced with point defense. This created a need for a longer shield up front to cover the cannons so the net result is a 2 space longer ship, however this redesign also let me insulate the bridge from the reactors and unify the thruster into two chains of 4 rather than 2 of 3 and 2 of 1, and of course I could fit on bulkheads to cover the elongations and where the two 1 thruster blocks used to be. BEHOLD.

It needs a new name now that it's no longer brick-shaped. I've been fiddling with a similar design, actually... been trying to make something with plasma cannons that's viable: Slightly shorter and faster, but not nearly as durable. Packing things in under a single shield on the port and starboard sides does give you 2 extra compartments to play with. 4 if you're ok with cutting back to 6 engines and 7 movement.

I started making a size > 30 ship with lots of plasma cannons. I wound up with something a lot like the Plasma Brick, so I'll just post it here. Presenting the Plasma Brick mk II: Name: [ Plasma Brick mk II ] #Batteries: [ 3 ]--x4--> Energy: [ 12 ] #Reactors: [ 6 ]-------> Regen: [ 6 ] #Engines: [ 12 ]-----------------x50------------------>Thrust: [ 600 ] [Thrust] / [Drag]--------> Movement: [ 10 ] #Comp.: [ 40 ] + Width Penalty:[ 20 ]---------->Drag: [ 60 ] Bigger. Badder. More brick-shaped. It should play a lot like the original model - same speed, still has two point defense guns, the idea is still to charge up to people and fire away. It's just 10 components larger and packing two more plasma cannons.
