Swordsmithing
Swordsmithing is the second category of crafing available to characters with the Weaponsmithing Special Stat. It allows the creation of melee weapons that add a bonus to a character's Swashbuckling skill. Despite the name, the items made do not necessarily have to be swords, they can be any manner of weapon so long as it's purpose is to be used in hand-to-hand fighting. But for the purposes of simplicity, in this section we'll refer to the weapons being made as swords.
Swordsmithing uses Swordsmithing Parts to create swords, which can be bought in port or from a trader, or gained by Scrapping swords and other hand weapons.
Sword Creation
The first step in making an explosive is to decide how much swashbuckling bonus the weapon will provide. Damage effects the size, handling difficults, and cost, as well as the Difficulty of making the explosive itself.

First let's look at a melee Weapon's Stats.
Swashbuckling: (the amount of Swashbuckling bonus the weapon provides)
Size: (How large the weapon is)
Difficulty: (How difficult to find or make the weapon is)
Cost: (How much the weapon Costs)

Choose a Swashbuckling Bonus
Obviously the larger the bonus, the more effective the weapon will be. The swashbuckling bonus affects most of the other stats the weapon has, and can also have an effect in Intimidate rolls made while brandishing the weapon. Be careful of making the bonus too large, however, as it may result in a larger weapon that intended. The Swashbuckling bonus can be anywhere from 1 to 30

[size=3Choose Modifications[/size]
Modifications can be added to the weapon. The number of Sockets a weapon has is equal to the Weapon's Size. A Size 1 weapon has 1 socket, a size 2 weapon has 2, and a Size 3 weapon has 3. Adding a Modification will increase the cost and difficulty of the item slightly. Check out the Modification list for more details.

Determine Size
[1-10 Swashbuckling bonus = Size 1]
[11-20 Swashbuckling bonus = Size 2]
[21-30 Swashbuckling bonus = Size 3]
The Size of the weapon is determined by the Swashbuckling Bonus. If the Bonus is between 1 and 10, it will be Size 1, If the bonus is between 11 and 20, the Weapon will be Size 2. If it is 21 or higher, it will be Size 3.
____________________
Determine Difficulty
Difficulty = [Bonus Swashbuckling x 5] + [Difficulty from Modifications]
Difficulty of creating the Weapon is the Swashbuckling bonus you chose multiplied, by 5. Then add any additional difficulty from Modifications
____________________
Determine Cost
Cost = [Bonus Swashbuckling x 12] + [Cost from Modifications]
The Cost of the weapon is the Swashbuckling bonus, multiplied by 12. Then add any additional Cost from Modifications

Finishing Up
Once you've chosen a Swashbuckling Bonus and figured out the Size, Cost and Difficulty of the item, you're ready to make a roll to see if your character can create it or not. Before you do that your GM May want to have a look at the stats to make sure you've done everything correctly. Or perhaps you want to record the item for reference later or simply to make remembering it's distinct stats easier, in any case you can use this format:
Name: (the name of the item)
Swashbuckling Bonus: (The Amount of Swashbuckling Bonus)
Difficulty: (The total difficulty)
Cost: (The number of parts or shares needed to make)
Size: (The final size of the item)
Description: (A brief description of the item. This is entirely up to you.)[/i]
Once you have written up the item and the GM has approved it, you can make the roll for attempting to create the item. (Make sure to consult the Item Creation section to make sure you meet the other prerequisites) For tinkering this is:
D100+[Weaponsmithing] Vs. [Difficulty]
If the roll succeeds, Congratulations, and enjoy your new sword! Additionally, 1 Swordsmithing part is refunded for every point your roll was higher than the Difficulty, up to 25% of the Cost of the item.
If the roll fails then the item is not created, and your Character loses 10 Swordsmithing Parts for every point that the roll failed by, (some of the raw material that went into the build was unrecoverable) up to the total Cost of the Item itself.
