A venerable old design originally planned and laid down by Royal Shipworks, the Raven class saw extensive service in the Victoriana Navy as a long range patrol craft and cruiser vessel, helping to protect and secure Victoriana's interests abroad. Her lack of heavy armor and armament is balanced by her exceptional speed, which is achieved via an impressive array of engines. The prodigious appetite of these four steam turbines required the installation of two powerful boilers. Another unusual feature of this class is it's cargo hold, which features an automated crane for loading and unloading, and a clever arrangement that allowed for packing more cargo than normal into the same space.
The Raven's excellent sustained speed and long cruising range made it an immensely valuable part of the Victoriana air forces, and often times Ravens are known for being the first responders in many cases of outbreaking conflict. They also gained a reputation as fearsome pirate hunters, able to run down bandit vessels as they attempt to escape the scene of their attacks.
As Victoriana's flock of Ravens began to age, many were de-comissioned in favor or newer and more advanced designs. But quite a few ships found themselves loaned or gifted to allied countries, and in some cases bought up by merchant companies in need of a fast ships, or by wealthy private owners, and so many fine specimens of this class still exist.
