Obouron is a land where almost everything is possible, and as players you have the ability to write backstories for your characters and the places they may come from and have that become an actual part of the world. Or maybe you simply have a good idea for a location, race, enemy, culture etc. that you want to put down and make available.
The Lore Bin is essentially a giant player (and GM) generated sourcebook, a place to leave and pick up ideas from to make the game more interesting and flesh out it's world. It's also a resource for the GM (and players) to easily link to information on areas that have already been described so this information doesn't have to be repeated.
Generating lore is pretty simple. Just put on your writer's cap and write as much as you want about the people, place, organization, event you want and submit it as a thread. Make sure to label your submission in the thread title:
(Place)
(Region)
(Country)
(Person)
(Weapon)
(Monster)
(Event)
Etcetera, for ease of looking things up.
There is room in Obouron for practically everything, but the overall feel is that of a fantasy or Fantasy-ish realm, so be wary of straying to far into science fiction themes or settings. (Maybe we can do a Sci-Fi game later. ;) ) Also be careful of writing anything that directly contradicts lore that is already written. Of course remember Obouron is a BIG place, so there's certainly room for two (or a dozen) evil empires or heroic organizations, and there's no reason they would all be close enough to have heard of one another…
If something is creative and well written and doesn't cause any major conflicts it might get (Approved) status which makes it official lore for the purposes of the game. Note that unapproved lore is equally valid, but that the GM of any particular game gets final say in what's canon in their world or not out of everything in the Bin. I'm only (Approving) things to make it easier for people to know what the 'official' story is where the games I run are concerned. If I don't approve something and you really want it canonized we can talk about what's causing me to not approve it and hopefully work out a compromise.
