Sooo. Calcing this game is about as easy and fast as I was hoping. HOORAY! hopefully figuring out your moves is similarly fast and easy.
What takes up most of my time is doing the portraits for the mobs, characters and of course the maps themselves, which take up the majority of my time..
I was thinking though, if I didn't do any of that, this game would be exceedingly fast to run, since calcing takes basically 3 minutes. I could easily handle another game (or three) if the story and art weren't involved.
So basically I was wondering if there would be any interest in a pure dungeon hack.. No story, just a semi-randomly generated dungeon (just blocks this time, no art) full of mobs (Just labels, no art) to slaughter.
Basically we're putting the Dungeon Smasher back in Dungeon Smasher.
This would give the the opportunity to add a lot of new creatures and possibly new skills to the game without having to wait for Wings of Oblivion to progress far enough to justify producing and introducing them.
You'd all get to roll new toons for it, up to two per player, and I'll adjust the level of difficulty to match.
There will be a few new rules / features as well::
• The Warpstone
The Warpstone is an item that will be randomly assigned to a character once play starts. Possessing the Warpstone makes that character the Party Leader. This grants a 10% CP bonus, but also makes that character much more likely to be the target of mobs. (30% chance any given mob will ignore it's designated programming and instead try to drill the PL if it can.) New characters entering play will appear next to the Party Leader, and any character venturing more than 20 squares away from the Party leader will suffer an HP loss and be teleported back to the Party Leader.
The Warpstone may be given to another character OR may be taken from the Party Leader, with or without consent. (Har har har)
If the Party Leader dies the Warpstone will automatically shift to a new party member.
• Fog of War
Unexplored rooms and passages will not be displayed until they are discovered.
• Doors
Doors will separate rooms from one other. Occasionally these will be trapped or locked.
• Treasure Chests
Treasure chests will be more prevalent (Usually 1 per room) and will dispense items. These may also be trapped or locked.
• Traps.
Traps will be naturally occurring, some hidden (or nearly hidden) others not.
• Monsters
To account for the higher than average number of items available to players, the monsters will be tougher.
• Monster Spawners
Yep. And this time they will be able to spawn more than one per Spawner. As before, spawned monsters will be worth 0 CP, but the spawner will be worth something instead. (Maybe 5x the CP of the monster it spawns. Kill them fast for a net gain!)
• Party wipe
If the party wipes entirely they will be restarted in a fresh dungeon and the Warpstone will be redistributed.
So yep! If you're interested, make some toons and sign up!
Standard character creation applies, (I'd like a portrait but backstory is not required, though fun) and I'd suggest you make two. Max party size will be 8 characters total.
