Race: T’chk’chk

The T’chk’chk are large (7-8ft. tall on average) insectoid creatures. They typically move upright on their hind legs with four arms capable of manipulating objects. They can also move on all six limbs, or use their forearms to add extra force to allow them to jump long distances. They communicate with each other via a complex system of pheromones, telepathy over short distances, and high-pitched trills (for long-distance communication), but have adapted to interactions with non-T’chk’chk and can speak a distorted version of the common language. They can also communicate telepathically with non-T’chk’chk creatures capable of understanding complex ideas -- but typically they avoid doing this with other humanoids.
T’chk’chk are gender-neutral. For reproductive purposes, they can change their genitalia based on available potential mates. T’chk’chk mate for life, but, even so, their gender remains ambiguous until they actually mate with their partner. As such, T’chk’chk refer to themselves and each other generally by name rather than using gendered pronouns.

It's generally hard for other beings to tell T'chk'chk apart by anything other than what they choose to clothe themselves in or carry. T'chk'chk can easily tell each other apart, but it is believed that much of this comes from mental presence and pheromones.

CHARACTER HISTORY =================================================================
Ch’kree left Ch’kree’s clutch at a young age to see the world. Ch’kree was particularly interested in learning about non-T’chk’chk life and culture having grown up in a colony. Upon venturing away from the colony, the first thing Ch’kree learned was that other beings were unable to communicate naturally by mindspeak which has led Ch’kree to learn how to facespeak.
Ch’kree would like to explore and learn as much about the other beings as possible. Ch’kree sees Ch’kree as like an anthropologist, becoming a part of a strange culture and learning about it.
((Ch'kree is going to play very much the "stranger in a strange land" trope, manifesting in awkward social interactions on par with Data from TNG or Enoch from Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D. and curiosity about mundane things.))
